Global home ownership rates plummet as property prices rise

Rising property prices around the world have driven a decline in home ownership rates in 22 of 36 developed countries, new research shows.

The report by Swinton Insurance reveals home ownership rates in the UK have declined the most over the past 10 years, dropping by 11 per cent to 65 per cent. The UK is followed by Denmark (-9 per cent), Iceland (-9 per cent) and Slovenia (-7 per cent).
