Kajima makes strategic hires to strengthen residential and regeneration teams
Kajima, a real asset investor, developer and manager, has appointed three new senior team members to its new London head office.
In July, Kajima appointed Kate Pix as Regeneration Director and Stephen Young as Senior Investment Manager. Their arrival follows Libby Butler who was appointed as Development Manager in June.
The appointments reflect Kajima’s ambitious growth plans and strategic expansion of its residential, regeneration and mixed-use development portfolio. In total it has seen 13 people join the company since the start of 2021.
Pix joins Kajima from Balfour Beatty and previously Westminster City Council and Morgan Sindall. With over 20 years’ experience in the UK real estate and infrastructure markets, including working on the East Wick and Sweetwater regeneration projects, Pix will be responsible for growing Kajima’s regeneration business and identifying public-private partnership opportunities.
Young joins Kajima following six years’ experience at Fizzy Living, a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing Association, where he managed a portfolio of 1,000 residential units across London and the Southeast. At Kajima, Young will continue help grow exposure in the European residential market, which includes Build to Rent, student housing and co-living sub-sectors.
Butler joins Kajima from IV Real Estate, a London based investor, developer and asset manager after starting her career as a quantity surveyor. Butler will support Kajima’s continued growth in development partnerships with a predominant focus on town centre regeneration projects.
Julian Rudd-Jones, Managing Director, Kajima, says: “Kajima has a diverse real estate investment and development portfolio in the UK and across Europe, spanning living, logistics, offices, social infrastructure, renewable energy and regeneration. These are important new appointments for the business as we continue to strategically expand our footprint in these sectors. Kate and Libby will work closely with local authorities to unlock value for their assets and re-animate our town centres with a programme of restructuring and reinvestment. Stephen will play a key role in growing our assets under management in the residential sectors, working with our highly valued JV partners across Europe to create quality spaces for people to live.”
