Carter Jonas appoints Head of Sustainability
National property consultancy Carter Jonas has appointed sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) expert Rohan Shiram as its new Head of Sustainability, based out of the firm's headquarters, One Chapel Place, London.
Shiram joins from WeWork, where he was Director of Energy, Sustainability and Social Impact for the EMEA and APAC regions, and has over 15 years of national and international experience in the field of energy, sustainability and ESG in the public and private real estate sector. An industry leader, Shiram has a successful track record of delivering design and operational efficiencies through energy, carbon and cost reductions, water and waste efficiency, circular economy, health and wellbeing, social value and climate-related risk assessments. He has extensive knowledge and expertise in working with global corporate teams to set, monitor and manage ESG and sustainability strategies and net zero targets for large portfolio projects.
In his new role, Shiram is responsible for the implementation and performance of Carter Jonas's overarching ESG policy and sustainability targets, enabling the firm to adopt strategies and activities that meet the needs of its clients and business while protecting, sustaining, and enhancing human and natural resources. He will also work closely with the firm's national network of professionals to further develop its range of sustainability and ESG services to find new ways of supporting existing and new client mandates to deliver on their sustainability commitments.
Iain Mulvey, Head of Business Development, Carter Jonas, says: "Rohan's appointment further demonstrates our commitment to strengthening our contribution to a sustainable future, driving significant change across the property industry and the sectors in which we operate. His focus and knowledge of the market will accelerate the implementation and delivery of our own operational targets and significantly strengthen our service offer across all asset classes and client areas, helping us achieve innovative, sustainable solutions. Given the growing importance of this agenda, both for our clients and the firm itself, his is a crucial appointment, and I look forward to collaborating with Rohan in his exciting new role."
Shiram says: "Carter Jonas has already made great strides in cultivating an ambitious and inclusive culture and is committed to achieving its ESG and sustainability initiatives. I am excited to be working with the Management Board, our sustainability working group, and the national team to deliver on our commitments in this area, helping our business become a force for good in the industry. More widely, I look forward to collaborating with colleagues to leverage our expertise in this sector, promoting Carter Jonas's sustainability services to help new and existing clients make a lasting, positive impact on the environment as we work towards a green economy."
