Mileway, a pan-European last mile logistics real estate company, has signed a long-term lease with Amazon for a 10,000 sq m delivery station at Mileway’s last mile logistics property in Viernheim, Germany.

The property occupies a prime location with highway connectivity to neighbouring areas.

The growth in e-commerce has fuelled demand for last mile properties across the continent in recent years. It is projected that e-commerce sales in Germany will grow to EUR120 billion by 2024.

Mileway has been rapidly growing its portfolio of last mile properties across Europe since it launched in September 2019 and now has 1,600 properties across 10 major economies in Europe. In Germany, the company owns more than 200 properties totalling 2.7million sqm with excellent geographic spread, enabling it to serve the needs of its growing and diverse customer base across the country.

Emmanuel Van der Stichele, CEO of Mileway, says: “We’re delighted to have signed a long-term lease with Amazon in Germany. We’ve built a high-quality portfolio of last mile properties across the continent and our scale, combined with our local expertise, means we’re uniquely positioned to help our customers to efficiently reach consumers and businesses in last mile locations across Europe.”

Martin Anderson, Director of Amazon Logistics in Germany, says: “We are very pleased to open a distribution center in Viernheim, in which more than 20 years of logistical expertise, technological progress and investments in transport infrastructure have been incorporated.
