Atrato Group makes two renewable energy appointments
Atrato Group, the alternative asset management and advisory group specialising in asset backed income strategies, has appointed Gurpreet Gujral as Managing Director, Renewable Energy and Francisca Wiggins as Director, Renewable Energy.
Atrato Group’s subsidiary Atrato Capital is the investment adviser to Supermarket Income REIT (SUPR), the owner of the largest portfolio of supermarket property in the UK. The grocery sector operators, as some of the biggest electricity consumers in the UK, have established ambitious ESG targets and are actively pursuing a broad range of renewable energy projects to facilitate their delivery.
With the appointment of Gujral and Wiggins, Atrato Group will support SUPR’s tenants in achieving their ESG objectives and drive the expansion of SUPR’s renewable energy investment initiatives.
Gujral brings a wealth of renewable energy experience having worked in the sector for 15 years, most recently at Macquarie, where he was a Senior Vice President in the Green Investment Group. Prior to joining Macquarie, Gurpreet worked in Equity Research at N+1 Singer. Gujral has a Master’s in Sustainable Urban Development from the University of Oxford and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Wiggins brings in-depth experience of executing renewable energy projects, having spent over 10 years at Atlantis, where she was the Commercial Director. At Atlantis, Wiggins was on the Board of MeyGen plc, the project company responsible for delivering the world’s largest planned tidal energy project. Francisca has a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with Renewable Energy from the University of Edinburgh.
While their principal focus will be the SUPR portfolio, the team will also consider solar PV opportunities for the Atrato Group balance sheet where the opportunity is not appropriate for SUPR.
Ben Green, Principal, at Atrato Group, says: “Gurpreet and Francisca both bring significant experience in renewables, which will be vital as we look to expand our activity in the green energy space. Our ambition is to roll out solar panels across SUPR’s portfolio to provide green on-site energy.”
Gujral adds: “Atrato has demonstrated its renewable aspirations within the SUPR portfolio and I’m excited at the opportunity to drive this initiative forward.”
