La Française Group has appointed Mark Wolter as Country Head-Germany and Managing Director of La Française REM-Germany.

Two years after the acquisition of Veritas Group, Wolter's arrival is the logical result of two major developments in the strategic business plan laid out by La Française Group for Germany, its second domestic market. These changes will take effect in May 2021, subject to approval by the supervisory authorities and reflect the importance of the German market (three local offices/c50 professionals) in the greater La Française group development strategy.
Effective May, Veritas Institutional and La Française AM GmbH will merge, forming the group’s quantitative multi-asset management centre of expertise: La Française Systematic Asset Management. The merger signifies the successful integration of the two original Veritas Group entities and results from the motivation to create synergies among the asset management teams as well as a mutualized customer service platform. La Française Systematic Asset Management will continue to operate out of Hamburg and Frankfurt. The Frankfurt office is expected to relocate this summer to Neue Mainzer Straße 80.
Jens Goettler, current Country Head and Managing Director of La Française REM in Germany, has successfully created the foundation for future growth in Germany. He has been instrumental in positioning La Française as a leading real estate investor in the German market and in completing the successful integration and subsequent merger of former Veritas business units. Having achieved this important milestone, Goettler, in agreement with the management team, has decided to hand over the reins to the next generation. Goettler will retire from day-to-day business followed by a period of advisory support to La Francaise in Germany. To drive the development and the new organisation, La Française has chosen to entrust the management of all its activities in Germany to Mark Wolter.
Wolter began his career in 1998 with Arthur Andersen Real Estate GmbH as a consultant. He joined Generali Immobilien in 2001, and then Schroder Property Kapitalanlagegesellschaft GmbH in 2008 as Managing Director and Head of Fund Management Germany. From 2010 until the present, he worked for Deka Immobilien as a Managing Director and Head of Real Estate Fund Management Institutional.
Wolter will be supported by the executive team of La Française Systematic Asset Management; a team of three Managing Directors, each with specific responsibilities (still subject to the approval of the supervisory authority): Berit Hamann, Managing Director, Operations; Dennis Jeske, Managing Director, Portfolio Management; and Kay Scherf, Managing Director, Sales & Marketing.
The real estate team will be led by Mark Wolter and Sandra Metzger, deputy Managing Director of La Française REM-Germany.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mark as Country Head and Managing Director-Germany of La Française REM. He certainly is the man for the job. His extensive experience and deep knowledge of the German market will be critical in achieving our development objectives. Jens’ decision to retire is perfectly understandable. His achievements have been tremendous and his contributions significant. On behalf of La Française, I would like to thank Jens for his commitment. All of these new developments, be it the role out of the systematic asset management expertise, the new governance structure or Mark’s nomination, testify to the strategic importance of the German market for La Française Group,” says Philippe Lecomte, Global Head of Business & Corporate Development of La Francaise Group.
“I am pleased to bring my many years of experience in the real estate industry, different investment perspectives and culture to La Française. Germany is a dynamic market that has a lot of potential in terms of product and market development. I look forward to joining La Française and to further reinforcing the group’s position in Germany,” says Wolter.
