Spacemade completes GBP1m fundraiser to expand operational platform for flexible workspace sector

Spacemade, an operational partner for landlords looking to provide bespoke flexible workspaces directly to their customers, has announced the completion of a GBP1 million fundraiser.

The business successfully attracted investment from a mix of existing landlord clients, real estate entrepreneurs, and finance and tech investors.

Spacemade launched to the market last year and is rapidly growing its unique network of spaces across the UK. It works with building owners to individually design new flexible workspaces, each with their own dedicated brand, all operated by Spacemade’s team and infrastructure, joining their network of spaces.

Spacemade will use the investment to scale the platform and continue to build out its network of spaces across the UK on behalf of building owners.

To date, the Spacemade platform has delivered seven bespoke workspaces across the UK, totalling over 100,000 sq ft. This includes a vibrant, community-centric workspace in the heart of London Fields, a boutique collection of private offices on The Strand designed for the legal and professional services sectors, the luxury repositioning and expansion of a prime building in the heart of Leeds city centre, a purpose-driven co-working space in Fitzrovia designed to be a specialist hub for the built environment secto and an aspirational neighbourhood workspace in Queen’s Park.

Dan Silverman, Co-Founder, says: “We’re thrilled to have these investors on board and this milestone for Spacemade comes at a watershed moment for the flexible market. As we emerge from the pandemic the provision of flexible space is going to increase substantially as businesses demand increased flexibility, however, it will increasingly be building owners providing it directly, enabling a much closer relationship with their customers. This round of fundraising is a clear vote of confidence in a new model of operation for the co-working sector and the increasing role agile workspaces will play in occupational strategies and decision making post-Covid.”

Co-Founder, Jonny Rosenblatt, adds: “It’s clear that businesses need flexibility and perfectly operated workspace. Our approach is very different to the existing cookie-cutter model. Each one of our spaces that we operate for landlords is unique for its specific target customer, but part of a much larger network of spaces. Operational real estate is all about scale and this fundraise will help us accelerate our plans.”

Following the news of Spacemade acquiring its latest space in December 2020, Neighbourhood Works will launch in London Fields in early April 2021.
