Panmure Gordon makes senior real estate hire

Panmure Gordon has appointed Philip Shields to the role of Managing Director to lead the company’s Real Estate Investment Banking team.

Prior to joining Panmure Gordon, Shields had a successful 20-year career in real estate investment banking across New York, London and Sydney, which included senior roles at Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, PwC and CBRE. Shields has advised on over 30 real estate transactions with a total value of GBP15-plus billion across the full spectrum of corporate advisory mandates including M&A, IPOs, equity raisings and debt advisory.

 
In his new role, Shields will be responsible for Real Estate Investment Banking with a particular focus on M&A and other corporate finance opportunities. He will be working closely with the established real estate team that includes Miranda Cockburn – a highly rated Real Estate equity research analyst.
 
Panmure Gordon has advised on a number of high-profile transactions over the course of 2020. They supported Urban Logistics REIT over two equity raises this year, totalling GBP225 million; acted as financial advisor to Liontrust Asset Management on their acquisition of Architas’ UK businesses from Axa and £66 million equity placing;  and supported Kooth Plc for their AIM initial public offering in September.
