St Modwen signs deal to bring furniture giant to Liverpool scheme
St Modwen has completed a deal to bring one of the UK’s leading furniture and flooring specialists, ScS (Sofa Carpet Specialist) to Stonebridge Business Park in Liverpool.
ScS is upscaling its distribution in the North West and is set to take on a 32,000 sq ft unit on a 10-year lease, transferring to this warehouse from a smaller unit in Warrington.
Extending over 30-acres, the park is strategically located on the East Lancashire Road (A580) in north Liverpool, one of the city’s key arterial routes, and is in close proximity to Junction 4 of the M57.
The well-established business park is already home a range of high-profile companies including DPD and UK Storage, as well as Boels Group and Almond Catering.
A 52,000 sq ft unit was delivered as part of the scheme’s third phase which is available for immediate occupation.
Stuart Murray, Development Director at St Modwen, says: “Stonebridge Business Park is a key site in the North West and plays an important role in driving development in the region. The impact of Covid-19 hasn’t wavered the attraction of major businesses such as ScS to the scheme, which is testament to its ideal location and the high-quality speculative units available.”
Gary Kemp, Logistics Director at ScS, adds: “We’re delighted to be upscaling our distribution operation in the North West and transferring to this new unit. As business has grown it was clear that additional distribution capacity was needed in this region and we felt that Stonebridge Business Park offered us the right unit in the right location.”
Jonathan Lowe of Avison Young, joint agent for the wider Stonebridge scheme, adds: “Despite the challenges of the current climate, to have secured this latest tenant for St Modwen at Stonebridge is really encouraging and clearly demonstrates the continuing demand and resilience in the market. We are seeing an increase in occupier activity across the Liverpool City Region from certain sectors, particularly for good quality modern logistics space, such as Stonebridge Business Park.”
