Mitsui Fudosan UK appoints new Managing Director

Mitsui Fudosan has appointed Tomoo Nakamura as Managing Director, effective from 1 June 2020. Nakamura succeeds Eiichiro Onozawa who is returning to Mitsui Fudosan’s Tokyo business, following four years managing and growing the property company’s UK and European arm.

Nakamura boasts over 27 years’ global real estate experience and joined Mitsui Fudosan in 1993. During his time at the company he has headed up its Asia Pacific business in Tokyo and has also held the positions of Deputy Managing Director of Mitsui Fudosan (Asia) and Managing Director of the company’s Thailand operation. Tomoo will draw on his experience to further expand the business’s portfolio in Europe, working in close partnership with Stanhope plc, in which Mitsui Fudosan UK has a stake.

During his tenure, Eiichiro successfully and significantly grew Mitsui Fudosan UK’s presence, having delivered landmark projects including the transformation of Television Centre from the BBC’s former home to a vibrant residential and leisure destination and the re-imagining of White City Place into a dynamic business hub. Eiichiro also oversaw the completion of 1 Angel Court, a mixed-use office development in the heart of the City of London.

Nakamura says: “This is a period of opportunity for Mitsui Fudosan UK and I look forward to working with the team to ensure the continued success of the company. I would like to thank Eiichiro for everything that he accomplished over the last four years and I am excited to build upon his good work. Our focus remains growing the solid relationships we have with our business partners and identifying opportunities to grow our portfolio through investing in and developing prime commercial projects in prominent locations.”

Eiichiro Onozawa, adds: “It has been a privilege to lead Mitsui Fudosan UK and to expand our operations and deliver outstanding developments in this key growth market. Tomoo is very well placed to lead the team moving forward, as I look forward to a fresh challenge in Tokyo.”
