Octopus Real Estate hires new director to bolster care homes team

Octopus Real Estate, a UK specialist real estate lender and investor, has strengthened its care home fund management team with the arrival of Chris Wishart as director of origination.

Wishart will take a leading role in Octopus Real Estate’s care home investment team, finding and delivering elderly and specialist care real estate acquisitions for its institutionally backed funds.

Octopus Real Estate’s market-leading care homes team currently manages a portfolio of 60 modern, purpose-built homes, including nine properties under construction, with a market value of over GBP750 million.

Wishart joins from Savills, where he has been a director in the healthcare practice since 2017. Prior to this, Wishart was a partner at Knight Frank where he was instrumental in building a market leading healthcare consultancy team.

Benjamin Davis, CEO at Octopus Real Estate, says: “Chris’s significant experience in the healthcare market speaks for itself, and we are delighted that he is joining us. Chris will add further strength to our market-leading care homes team as we continue to grow the portfolio and strive to enhance our offering to both investors and operators in a market that remains undersupplied.”

Commenting on his appointment, Wishart says: “I’m excited to be joining Octopus Real Estate, which has been leading the care home investment market for over a decade. Beyond building a high-quality portfolio of care homes, Octopus’s reputation as a responsible landlord, committed to ensuring its homes are operated to the highest standards, is something that really stands out for me. I look forward to finding new investment opportunities for the team and contributing to filling the gap that currently exists for those requiring care.”
