Whitehall Capital adds three to Advisory Board
Whitehall Capital Fund (Whitehall Capital), a specialist commercial and residential property bridge financing fund, has appointed Peter Miller, the former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Westfield Group, Jonathan Lewis, a real estate partner at international law firm CMS, and Alexandre T Speaker, co-founder of asset based lender Moriah Capital and a former MD of Laurus Capital, a multi-billion dollar direct-credit hedge fund, to its advisory board.
Whitehall’s advisory board exists to complement the knowledge and experience of the Company’s management team, providing advice and guidance on how to optimally achieve current business goals. The members provide access to a group of experts and their network, and also provide knowledge, guidance and business-development insight.
Miller is CO-CEO and Co-Founder of The Kinetik Group, an international, full-service property company. Previously he held the position of COO of the Westfield Group in the UK and Europe between 2009 and 2019. During his 25 year career at Westfield, Mr Miller held several senior roles across the company, amongst them Director of Design, Development and Construction, during which he was responsible for delivering Europe’s two largest shopping centres, Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City as well as the development of Westfield Derby. Together these shopping malls attract over 70 million shoppers per year and generate in excess of £2bn in sales. Peter was known as a visionary who anticipated the rapidly changing market and led the industry’s efforts to create unique destinations with the best in retail, dining, entertainment, events, technology and design which were not only anchored by retail but also residential, offices and hotels.
Miller was a member of Westfield Corporation’s Executive Committee and led the UK and European operating business, which has £6bn of assets under management. He was also responsible for delivering the UK/EU business’ GBP3.5 billion-plus development pipeline, including the expansion of Westfield London and creation of new centres in Croydon and Bradford, in addition to the company’s first retail destination in Europe, Westfield Milano.
Lewis is a partner in the Real Estate Team at CMS London, with a particular expertise in commercial property development and investment work. In his role he represents public and private companies and institutions on development projects involving industrial, hotel, office and retail properties. He frequently leads multidisciplinary teams on complex investment purchases and financings of portfolios.
In 2007, Speaker co-founded Moriah Capital, an asset-based lender that provided direct investments to small-cap companies. Before setting up Moriah Capital he was a managing director at Laurus Capital, a multi-billion dollar direct-credit hedge fund. He also served as a senior attorney for six years with the Secured Debt Group at Bryan Cave, an international law firm based in New York, where he focused on secured loans and private equity transactions. In this position he represented a variety of institutional investors and investment banks in connection with structuring and closing asset-based loans with public and private companies. He holds JD and BA degrees, both with distinction, from Boston University.
Bodenstein, Managing Director of Whitehall Capital, says: “To be able to attract individuals of the calibre of Peter, Alexandre and Jonathan to the Company’s advisory board is testament to the strength of Whitehall’s offering and track record. Whitehall has performed exceptionally well since it was established in 2017, delivering a 24.5 per cent return since inception, and a stellar 2019, which included two consecutive record quarters, a 10.9 per cent yearly return, and outperformance of our 10 per cent target return. It’s a real advantage to be able to draw upon the treasure-trove of expertise and experience our advisory board has accumulated over the years; and utilise their contacts and advice in fulfilling our business goals. I’m confident that with the support of these newest members of our advisory board, Whitehall will continue to go from strength-to-strength.”
