Barings Real Estate has expanded its team in Europe with the appointment of Sam Mellor, Head of Europe Originations - Structured Real Estate Investments.
Leveraging Mellor’s experience in origination, structuring, portfolio management, and capital raising this appointment will support the firm’s geographical expansion into Continental Europe for its debt investment platform. Mellor will be based in the firm’s London office and his responsibilities will include the origination and execution of investments and the development and distribution of investment products in the space.
Prior to joining Barings, Mellor was with Chenavari Investment Managers, a London-based hedge fund, where he was responsible for the real estate business’s investments throughout the capital structure (debt and equity), in both public and private markets.
Charles Weeks, Head of Real Estate Europe, says: “Debt continues to play an important role in our growth plans in Europe and Asia in Barings Real Estate. Sam joins a deep bench of real estate professionals in the region and his appointment will strengthen our origination capabilities across European markets. It also reflects the strong interest we’ve seen from investors in European debt investment opportunities.”
