LaSalle Investment Management appoints head of US acquisitions

LaSalle Investment Management has appointed acquisitions and portfolio management specialist Derek Lopez as head of US acquisitions.

This newly-enhanced role is part of a strategic effort to continue to drive investment performance and growth in LaSalle’s Americas business.
“Derek is an exemplary and trusted leader at LaSalle and has been an integral part of growing and managing a portfolio of direct investment and co-investment programmes on behalf of some of the country’s largest and most sophisticated institutional investors,” says Jason Kern, LaSalle’s chief executive officer, Americas. “Given Derek’s proven track record and ability to work across multiple disciplines, I am confident he will bring a fresh and energetic approach to his new assignment.’
Lopez will focus on joint ventures and large portfolio transactions, and help bring US deal flow to large, non-discretionary capital sources at home and abroad. Since joining LaSalle in 2005, Lopez has completed more than USD4bn in investments across various property types and across the risk return spectrum.
The enhanced role stems from organisational changes LaSalle is implementing across its Americas platform.
LaSalle’s other recent organisational modifications include the expansion and rebranding of its separate accounts business, now known as custom accounts, under the leadership of another tenured LaSalle executive, Karen Brennan.
