John Jardine joins Ares Real Estate Group as senior partner
John Jardine has been appointed as a senior partner in Ares Management’s real estate group, where he will be responsible for loan production for Ares Commercial Real Estate Corporation (ACRE) and the real estate group’s other lending activities.
“As we continue to build momentum in creating a best-in-class real estate finance business and, in particular, a more consistent and greater flow of investment activity for ACRE, we are thrilled to have John join our team. He brings tremendous industry experience and relationships to Ares as well as deep capital markets knowledge,” says Todd Schuster, senior partner in Ares’ real estate group and co-CEO of ACRE. “John will be a valuable Partner to me as we work to raise capital, create compelling products for our clients, and enhance ACRE’s balance sheet.”

Jardine is a seasoned real estate professional and has an extensive background in loan production, capital markets, asset management and development. He spent 22 years at TIAA-CREF, where he negotiated and closed numerous multi-million dollar transactions and was the portfolio manager of a multi-billion dollar position in commercial real estate. He led the formation of TIAA Realty, a USD2bn private office and industrial real estate investment trust, as well as Teachers Properties, a taxable development and disposition subsidiary.
Most recently prior to joining Ares, Jardine served as managing director at C-III Asset Management, where he was responsible for large loan asset management as well as portfolio oversight of collateralised debt obligations. Prior to that, he was managing director at ZAIS Group, where he was responsible for strategic commercial real estate initiatives.
