Real estate investment trust Chambers Street Properties has purchased 1 Rocket Road, an industrial property of approximately 510,000 square feet in Hawthorne, California, for USD46.7 million.
The property is the headquarters of Space Exploration Technologies Corp, or SpaceX, which designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft.
The private company was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, its CEO and chief designer, with the goal of revolutionising space transportation.
The property is fully leased on a net lease basis through January 2023.

Hawthorne is part of the South Bay submarket of Los Angeles that features a significant concentration of technology, engineering and design companies.
