Manchester Arndale, which is jointly owned by M&G Real Estate and intu, has attracted a range of new retailers in recent weeks with five new brands taking units at the centre over the summer.
The tally rises to six with 7 for All Mankind, which will be opening on New Cathedral Street, a run of luxury stores adjacent to the centre that is owned and managed by the Joint Venture partnership.
7 for All Mankind joins a premium line-up on New Cathedral Street, taking a 2,000 sq ft store alongside the likes of Burberry and LK Bennett on a new 10 year lease. Within the main centre, Thomas Sabo has secured a 1,400 sq ft unit just along from Manchester’s flagship Next store on a new ten year lease, while Goldsmiths Boutique will be opening their sixth UK boutique concept store in a 1,700 sq ft unit immediately above Thomas Sabo on the Upper Mall.
The new names are joined by Mancunian brand Aspecto in a 2,700 sq ft store in the South West corner of the scheme and Perfect Home, which has taken a 3,800 sq ft store on a ten year term. The sextet of deals concludes with a relocation by Currys PC World to retain their place in Manchester Arndale in a 5,700 sq ft unit secured on a new five year term.
Elise Chamberlain, director – asset management (retail) at M&G Real Estate, says: “Interest in Manchester city centre remains strong with many brands, such as Goldsmiths Boutique, choosing Manchester Arndale as one of just a select number of trading locations. Competition for stores in the centre is high and, with another four retailers in solicitors’ hands, the few available units are quickly being snapped up.
“This level of interest offers us an opportunity to shape the line-up at Manchester Arndale and further develop its reputation at the heart of retailing in what is arguably England’s second city, to the benefit of the 40 million consumers coming through the centre’s doors.”
Spanning 1.4 million square feet in Manchester city centre, Manchester Arndale is one of Europe’s largest inner city shopping centres. The retained agents for Manchester Arndale are JLL and Tushingham Moore. Harper Dennis Hobbs represented Thomas Sabo, Keenan & Co acted for Goldsmiths Boutique, JLL acted for 7 for All Mankind and Savills represented Currys PC World. Barker Proudlove acted for Perfect Home and Aspecto were represented by Lawson Hubbard Lowe.
