Europa Centralna Shopping Centre, a 720,000 sq ft shopping centre in Silesia, southern Poland, officially opened on 1 March, with more than 100,000 customers attending the opening weekend for this first phase of the scheme developed by Helical Poland.
The project is a joint venture with clients of Standard Life Investments.
Europa Centralna is a regional shopping scheme, located at the interchange of the A1 and A4 motorways in southern Poland and an estimated five million customers within a one hour drive.
The scheme is a first in Poland offering a combination of high quality shopping mall and retail park in a single location with 120 gallery shops and retail park units, together with 2,300 car parking spaces. The development is now 80 per cent pre-let, tenants include Tesco Extra, Castorama, Media Saturn, SMYK Megastore, New Yorker, H&M, Cubus, Lindex, Bershka, RTV Euro AGD, Neckermann, Deichmann and McDonalds.
Gerald Kaye, director of Helical Bar, says: “This large scheme is in an exceptional location on one of the busiest motorway interchanges in Europe and in the centre of Silesia, the industrial heart of Poland. We anticipate it will prove to be the pre-eminent retail destination in the region for years to come. The opening of Europa Centralna is another important milestone in our development pipeline and we have been pleased with the quantity and quality of the lettings achieved to date.”
