LGP secures additional letting at Wardour St office redevelopment
Legal & General Property (LGP) and Walbrook Land have let a further 7,000 sq ft at Seventy Six Wardour Street, their Soho office-based redevelopment scheme, to global software company ThoughtWorks.
ThoughtWorks has taken the entire first floor of 10 years and will be occupying the property as its new London Headquarters. Founded in Chicago over 20 years ago with the aim of attracting and employing the best knowledge workers in the world, today ThoughtWorks employs over 2,500 people spread across 29 offices in 12 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, Germany, India, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It will move from Berkshire House, 168-173 High Holborn, London WC1.
The letting to ThoughtWorks follows the pre-letting of the fourth and fifth floors to leading media law firm, Sheridans, earlier this year and means that 60% of the building is now let, with only two floors of 7,000 sq ft still available.
The scheme, which LGP redeveloped in conjunction with Walbrook Land, was launched at the end of 2013 and has been subject to an extensive refurbishment of the existing period building in order to create 33,000 sq ft of premium office space spread over the five upper floors of the building. The new floor plates range from 5,400 sq ft to 7,000 sq ft and benefit from a triple aspect and terraces at all levels.
Simon Wilkes, head of business space development at Legal & General Property, says: "Occupying a prominent location in the heart of Soho and refurbished to the highest standards, this represents one of the few attractive Grade A office options currently available in this popular and dynamic London market. It is therefore no surprise that it is already staking its place as a Headquarters’ address and that we are in discussion with a number of other parties on the remaining floors.”
