Johnston Press is moving the Edinburgh offices of The Scotsman Publications to the upper floors of Orchard Brae House on Queensferry Road, following the refurbishment of the building by Delancey.
Johnston Press has agreed a 15 year lease for a total of 25,500 sq ft of space on the seventh and eight floors.
The letting means that 60 per cent of the building is now let, following its comprehensive refurbishment to Grade A office space.
The move is part of well-publicised plans by Johnston Press to realign its property portfolio and to ensure an appropriate office network which provides a fit for purpose, high quality office space for its staff.
Fit out works are due to commence imminently, with a full move from Johnston Press’s existing office space at Barclay House in the summer. Orchard Brae House will be home to The Scotsman, Scotland On Sunday, Edinburgh Evening News and a number of weekly titles and associated brands.
Stuart Birkett, managing director, Johnston Press Scotland, says: “We’ve carried out an exhaustive search for quality premises which perfectly suit our needs and are very happy to be moving to Orchard Brae House, which has recently been refurbished to an incredibly high standard. We are about to start on a full refit in order to provide our staff with a high-quality working environment and look forward to completing the move in the summer.”
Paul Goswell, managing director, Delancey, says: “Johnston Press represents a landmark tenant for this iconic office building and we are extremely pleased that they have chosen Orchard Brae as their home, alongside the building’s existing high quality tenant line-up.”
Orchard Brae House has been refurbished by Delancey to a high specification. The building provides 104,000 sq ft of accommodation on floorplates of up to 15,300 sq ft. A further 44,000 sq ft is available over second, third and fifth floors.
JLL and Montagu Evans advised Delancey whilst Johnston Press was represented by Rapleys.
