Alceda Fund Management is partnering with APN Property Group to launch its former Cayman fund focused on Asian real estate investment trusts (REITs) as a SICAV SIF.
APN is a specialist Asia Pacific real estate fund manager which currently manages over USD1.6bn of real estate and real estate securities globally, with offices in Melbourne and Singapore.
The fund primarily invests in listed property and infrastructure securities that also demonstrate deep value and dependable cash flows in the Asia Pacific region and aims to return a higher level of income with lower volatility than would normally be expected from investing solely in Asian REITs.
There is a clear investment opportunity in the Asian markets with strong demographic and economic trends underpinning the region’s growth prospects. The Asian REIT market in particular has demonstrated resilience and growth in recent years, having outperformed European and North American counterparts.
Stephen Finch, chief executive officer, APN Property Group, Asia, says: “Asian REITs are delivering sound investment credentials. With over a decade of strong growth, Asian REITs already account for 16 per cent of the global REIT market, which will significantly increase given the universe of direct assets is expected to double by 2031. By redomiciling our Cayman fund into a Luxembourg fund structure, we aim to provide European investors with direct access to the Asian growth story through a demonstrably superior performing portfolio of Asian REITs.”

Alceda opened its office in Hong Kong in 2012, with Christian Stoiber as managing director of Alceda Asia Ltd, responsible for the development of Alceda in Asia and Australia. Stoiber has over 25 years of experience in alternative investment, product management and international sales at companies like Citibank, Bank of America, Bankers Trust and Barclays Capital in Europe and Hong Kong. He has worked in Hong Kong since 2009.
